What it does. EBO supplies trusts with named virtual assistants that sit on the trust's website or the NHS App. HTN reports that at North East London NHS Foundation Trust the assistant guides patients and parents through booking, rescheduling, cancelling and viewing appointments, integrated with the Trust's Rio patient record so routine transactions need no manual staff work.
Where it falls short. The outcome figures (for example a 25% fall in missed appointments in one service) come from the trust's and vendor's own reporting, and the savings are estimates, not audited. A handover to human staff is available where needed; voice and extra languages are described as future work.
