Microsoft Dragon Copilot

Quick answer

Microsoft Dragon Copilot is a standalone vertical AI agent from Microsoft. A clinician's assistant that listens to the consultation, writes the notes, and prepares orders and referral letters. Nearfi's Agent Index rates its autonomy 3/5 (multi-step, with approval): it records the visit, writes the note, picks up orders and drafts referral letters, and the clinician finalises them. It is not a 4 because Microsoft does not describe any step as finished without the clinician. Status: live; 0 incident(s) logged.

The findings

What it does. Dragon Copilot combines Dragon Medical One dictation and DAX ambient listening. It turns multi-party conversations into specialty-specific notes, picks up more than a dozen order types, and with supported systems such as Epic passes orders to the record's order module. It also drafts referral letters and after-visit summaries from the notes.

Where it falls short. Microsoft's pages do not list pricing or say how review is enforced. Maginative notes that the FDA has flagged concerns about AI-generated medical documentation and stresses human oversight, and a 2025 JMIR study of two other commercial scribes found errors in about 70% of simulated-visit notes, so those findings are not specific to this product. Radiology is listed as in preview, and the pages opened describe 'AI apps and agents' without naming specific agents.
