Did Eye in the Sky come true?
Largely, yes. Eye in the Sky (2015) has a P(n) of 90% on Nearfi's P(n) Board, our estimate of the chance its future arrives within 20 years. Of its 4 tracked predictions, 1 have arrived and 3 are arriving. Its central premise, 'Crews in Nevada and Britain use satellite-linked armed drones to find and kill a target in another continent in real time', has arrived. The next prediction is estimated to arrive around 2028.
Eye in the Sky was set in its own present and its core technology, remote armed drones, was already here. What it imagined ahead of its time was the insect-sized camera, now in prototype, and the machine-assisted sorting of targets; what it left out is how routine the chain of command has become.

How this P(n) was calculated
P(n) is the chance that this work's future arrives within 20 years, by 2046. For each prediction we turn our estimate into a probability: arrived is 100%, diverged is 0%, and otherwise the low end of our 80% range counts as a 10% chance, the median year 50% and the high end 90%. Each prediction is weighted 1–5 by how pivotal it is to the story, and P(n) is the weighted average. P50 does the same by 2076. P(n), explained.

Crews in Nevada and Britain use satellite-linked armed drones to find and kill a target in another continent in real time.
Weight 5/5 · Core premise: the whole film is the decision to fire a missile from a chair thousands of miles away.
The US Air Force activated the 432nd Wing at Creech Air Force Base, Nevada, on 1 May 2007 to operate Reapers and Predators, and the first confirmed Reaper kill came that October in Afghanistan. The RAF flew its first Reaper strike in Iraq in November 2014, a year before the film's release. The film's setting was not a prediction but a description. 12

EYE-2
An insect-sized, remotely piloted drone can fly inside a building and send back live video of the people in it.
Weight 4/5 · Major: the beetle camera is how the team sees inside the house, and its footage drives the central decision.
Palm-sized military drones are in service and insect-scale flapping-wing prototypes exist. A US Air Force Research Laboratory contract of 2021 funded an insect-sized microdrone prototype, and in June 2025 Chinese state television showed a mosquito-sized robot from the National University of Defence Technology. Power, sensors and control all have to fit in a few grams, and no reliable operational insect drone is publicly documented. The median assumes a slow road from prototype to field use. 345

Software helps pick out and identify targets from drone video, with a human making the final call.
Weight 3/5 · Supporting: faces are matched from a distant station and the match shapes the mission, but the plot turns on the human decision.
The Pentagon's Project Maven, set up in 2017, applies computer vision to drone and satellite imagery to flag potential targets for human analysts, and became a programme of record in 2023. NATO signed for its own version in March 2025, for what it describes as intelligence fusion and targeting. These systems sort objects and patterns; public sources do not show them naming individuals by face in a strike chain, so the claim is partial. 67

EYE-4
A named elected minister is consulted on a specific strike while it is under way, and is held accountable for the civilian cost.
Weight 4/5 · Major: the passing of responsibility up and sideways, and its refusal, is the film's central theme.
Governments do accept responsibility for individual strikes: the UK prime minister justified the August 2015 Raqqa strike to Parliament after it happened, and the MP David Davis said he had the authority to order it while warning that such strikes could become routine. Accountability after the fact is thinner. The Pentagon's 2025 report accepted 80 civilian deaths in one strike on Ras Isa port in Yemen, but Airwars says it left out other alleged harm. Real-time, accountable ministerial sign-off is partial and uneven. 8910
