Poke

Quick answer

Poke is a standalone general AI agent from The Interaction Company of California. An assistant you text, which reads and drafts email, manages your calendar and runs plain-language automations. Nearfi's Agent Index rates its autonomy 4/5 (multi-step on its own): users install 'recipes' that run on incoming email or on a schedule, and it manages email, calendar and reminders without being asked each time; the sources opened don't say whether it asks before sending, so it is not rated 5, and routine automations need no approval, so it is not 3. Status: live; 0 incident(s) logged.

Why 4: users install 'recipes' that run on incoming email or on a schedule, and it manages email, calendar and reminders without being asked each time; the sources opened don't say whether it asks before sending, so it is not rated 5, and routine automations need no approval, so it is not 3.

The findings

What it does. You message Poke on Apple Messages, Telegram, WhatsApp or RCS. Its docs list email, calendar, reminders, web search and integration-based actions; TechCrunch reports 'recipes', prebuilt automations that connect to services such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, Notion, Strava, Oura and Philips Hue. Users can write their own automations in plain text.

Where it falls short. Neither source says whether Poke asks before sending or changing things. TechCrunch did not audit its security and the company hasn't disclosed customer numbers. Cognition announced in July 2026 (outlets give 23 or 24 July) that it was acquiring the company, with terms undisclosed and Poke to remain available.
