What it does. Kayak's AI Mode, powered by ChatGPT and Kayak's own data, lets users type questions and get results from hundreds of travel providers. TechCrunch reports that users can compare and book flights, hotels and cars from the chat; Skift does not say how bookings are completed.
Where it falls short. The two reports differ on how booking works inside the chat, and we could not verify it from Kayak's own pages. At launch it was English-only, in the US, on the web rather than in the app.
