Alexa for Shopping (formerly Rufus)

Why 3: it builds baskets, schedules orders and runs price rules, but most actions stop at the basket for you to check out; only Auto Buy orders on its own, so it is not routinely 4.

What it does. On 13 May 2026 Amazon replaced Rufus, its shopping chatbot since 2024, with Alexa for Shopping, which draws on Alexa+ and your shopping history. It answers product questions, compares items, rebuilds baskets from past orders, schedules recurring orders and runs conditional rules such as adding sunscreen to your basket if it falls to $10. Auto Buy, added to Rufus for US Prime members in November 2025, places the order itself once a target price is met; Amazon said it checks prices every 30 minutes.

Where it falls short. It shops only where its maker sells, and some of its AI results are sponsored, so its advice and Amazon's interests overlap. Most actions stop at the basket for you to check out; Auto Buy orders can be cancelled within 24 hours, before they ship.
