What it does. Launched 8 December 2025, the app lets users plan meals, build a cart from Instacart's retail partners and pay inside ChatGPT, using OpenAI's Agentic Commerce Protocol with Stripe. Users sign in to their Instacart account and approve the list before paying.
Where it falls short. At launch payment was by credit card only, with Apple Pay, Google Pay and native mobile checkout still to come. Reports we opened did not list regions or retailers covered.
