Ongoing, unprompted

Why 5: companies deploy it to answer every support query continuously across helpdesks, resolving most without a person, and it hands off rather than waiting for approval on each reply.

The findings

What it does. Intercom launched Fin in March 2023 on GPT-4; it now runs on the company's own support model, Apex, and works with Intercom or other helpdesks such as Salesforce and HubSpot. Intercom renamed itself Fin in May 2026, and Salesforce completed its purchase of the company, agreed at about $3.6 billion, on 10 September 2026. Salesforce says Fin serves more than 30,000 companies and resolves 76% of queries on average.

Where it falls short. The 76% figure is the vendor's own average; results depend on the quality of each company's help content. Billing per outcome counts some handoffs and disqualifications as well as resolutions.
