What it does. Spotify's beta builds a playlist from a written prompt, drawing on the listener's history and current music trends, with a one-line note on why each track fits. The listener can edit the prompt, refine tracks, or set the playlist to refresh daily or weekly. Spotify began testing in New Zealand in December 2025, launched in the US and Canada on 22 January 2026 and added the UK, Ireland, Australia and Sweden on 23 February 2026.
Where it falls short. It is a beta with usage limits that also apply to scheduled refreshes; some Reddit users reported hitting them after roughly 20 to 30 prompts, as TechCrunch relayed. Prompts must be in English. Free users can listen to shared prompted playlists but not create their own.
