# Kiro autonomous agent (Amazon Web Services)

Kiro autonomous agent is a standalone vertical AI agent from Amazon Web Services. A coding agent that takes a goal, works in a sandbox and delivers a pull request for you to review. Nearfi's Agent Index rates its autonomy 4/5 (multi-step on its own): Kiro's page says it plans, writes code, runs tests, monitors CI and answers reviewer feedback with 'no intermediate approvals', and it never merges on its own, so you check the pull request afterwards. It is not 5 because you assign each task. Status: beta; 0 incident(s) logged.

- Category: Coding · vertical · Standalone
- What it does: AWS previewed it on 2 December 2025 as one of three 'frontier agents'. You give it a goal such as a feature or bug; it builds a plan, writes code, runs tests, opens a pull request, then watches CI and picks up reviewer comments. Each task has its own sandbox and automations can have up to five schedules.
- Limits: AWS's claim that it can work for hours or days is its own; TechCrunch noted that hallucinations and accuracy, not context length, may be the real obstacle, and developers often prefer short tasks they can check quickly. MCP and other governance controls are not yet supported for organisations on IAM Identity Center.
