DoorDash text-to-order agent is an in-app vertical AI agent from DoorDash. A text-message agent, working in Apple Messages, that builds your DoorDash order and checks out when you confirm. Nearfi's Agent Index rates its autonomy 3/5 (multi-step, with approval): it builds a cart and, once you confirm in the thread, checks out with your stored card; it pauses for your confirmation, and is not 4 because it will not order unprompted without your permission. - What it does: Unveiled on 30 September 2026, it matches the texter's phone number to a DoorDash profile and uses order history, preferences and the stored payment method. You text a dish or 'order my usual'; it searches nearby restaurants, suggests a cart, and completes checkout after you confirm. With permission it can message you about a usual order before you ask.
- Limits: It is in early development. Bloomberg's test of an early version found prices that differed from those in the app. Access is by waitlist, and waitlisted users get a newer version.
