Clio Work

Quick answer

Clio Work is an in-app vertical AI agent from Clio. Clio's AI workspace for solo and smaller law firms; it plans and carries out multi-step legal research and drafting from a single goal. Nearfi's Agent Index rates its autonomy 3/5 (multi-step, with approval): from one goal it plans and runs several legal-research and drafting steps, and the lawyer can interrupt and redirect it; it is not 4 because the lawyer reviews the work and Clio's help centre says changes in Clio Manage need approval. Status: live; 0 incident(s) logged.

The findings

What it does. Announced in October 2025 and given agentic abilities on 2 April 2026, Clio Work takes a goal such as building a defence strategy and runs the steps itself, using a set of legal skills. It combines a library of more than a billion legal documents from Clio's vLex acquisition with a firm's own matter documents, notes and contacts. A companion mobile app, Vincent by Clio, launched the same day. Since April 2026 it has been sold without a Clio Manage subscription.

Where it falls short. Clio's claims about adoption and accuracy are its own, and no independent evaluation was found. The coverage opened does not describe approval steps, usage caps or what happens when a task goes wrong. Lawyers remain responsible for checking citations and advice.
