# Claude Duet (Anthropic)

Claude Duet is a standalone general AI agent from Anthropic. Anthropic's proactive agent app that watches your email and calendar, drafts and prepares work, and asks before acting. Nearfi's Agent Index rates its autonomy 4/5 (multi-step on its own): it works in the background on its own cloud computer, scanning email and calendar and starting first steps without being asked, but it pauses for approval before payments, sending messages, signing or deleting, so it is not fully ongoing. - What it does: Duet runs on its own virtual machine and browser, so it keeps working when your phone or laptop is off. Each morning it scans email and calendar, can start first steps such as drafting replies, and checks connected accounts every few hours. It uses more than 6,000 connectors and plugins from the Claude Marketplace and, per VKTR, can buy through Stripe's Link and Shop Pay with a one-time card per transaction.
- Limits: A research preview: per VKTR, it cannot make calls or send texts, work with Microsoft 365, or monitor accounts 24/7, and users cannot yet watch it work or take over its browser. Anthropic says it can misread threads or urgency and advises reviewing drafts and approval requests; its fuller safety write-up was promised 'soon'.
