# Base44 (Base44)

Base44 is a standalone vertical AI agent from Base44. A chat-based builder that turns a description into a working app with its own backend, login and hosting. Nearfi's Agent Index rates its autonomy 4/5 (multi-step on its own): from a plain-language description it builds the front end, backend, database, login and payments and publishes the app without you approving each step, and you check the result afterwards; it does not act unasked. Status: live; 0 incident(s) logged.

- Category: Coding · vertical · Standalone
- What it does: You describe the app and Base44 builds the interface, database, user authentication and payments, then runs it on its own infrastructure. It connects to tools such as Gmail, Slack, Notion, Google Drive, HubSpot and Salesforce, and paid plans add custom domains and GitHub sync. Wix agreed to buy it in June 2025 for $80 million upfront plus milestone payments in 2029; Base44 said it would continue as an independent product.
- Limits: Usage is metered in message and integration credits, so heavy iteration costs more than the entry price suggests. Its pages do not say how the builder checks the security of what it generates, and Base44's own docs do not detail which backend actions the AI runs itself.
