Why 3: it can order takeaway, book restaurants and rides across several steps through partner services, but you ask each time and it is limited by its partner list, so it does not run on its own.
What it does. Alexa+ runs on Echo devices, in the Alexa app and at Alexa.com. Amazon says it can order takeaway, find and book restaurants, book a ride, schedule services such as home repairs, shop Amazon and manage family calendars, working through partner services. In the UK the launch partners for bookings and orders were OpenTable, Just Eat and Treatwell.
Where it falls short. It is only as capable as its partner list: in Fortune's July 2025 hands-on it could not book a restaurant that wasn't on OpenTable, and it said Spotify was playing when it wasn't. It is far more conversational than the old Alexa, but outside the US and Canada it is still in early access.

- 2025-03-28 Amazon withdrew the option for some Echo devices to process voice requests locally, so recordings went to its cloud; TechCrunch linked the change to the generative AI features coming with Alexa+. Source
